Tom has carved two Baby Beds to date. These beautifully crafted beds are fully functional while still bringing elegance to any nursery. These heirloom quality beds are certain to be in your family for generations to come. The bed featured here is made out of Mahogany and then stained to achieve this rich color. The story book at the top of the headboard leads into the theme of childrens bed time stories and nursery rhymes while the castle under it reminds us of the whimsy that dreams bring. Mother Goose is featured on the inside of the headboard, while each of the side rails shows us the stories of Hansel and Gretal and the Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe. The lower sides of these rails also show us teady bears doing various things like roller skating. The footboard features a large bow with the phrase "Gift From Heaven" carved under it and on the inside of the footboard the popular ryme of Hey Diddle Diddle is represented. On the outter side below the spindles the adventures of Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox are shown and a scene of Rip Van Winkle resides just above the beautifully carved dust ruffle. Every part of this bed has been created with meticulous attention to detail. Each of the 94 spindles were shaped by hand and all of the spindles on the head and foot boards (44 spindles) rotate so that they can entertain children as they grow from babies into toddlers.
